Spiked Hot Cocoa Jelly Shots | Peaches Please

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!! If you’re a parent you’re probably getting your kids into costumes and preparing to traipse around the neighborhood in search of candy you can later steal from your kids. If you are like me and still enjoying life sans children, then you’re likely watching the clock and¬†strategizing your own Superman quick change from work wear to costumed anonymity for the evening’s festivities. My personal transition will be into a character from my childhood, a sly woman who traveled the world to appropriate valuable items for her own nefarious gain. Chocolate Stout Cake with Swiss Meringue Buttercream | Peaches Please

Yep. It’s a Halloween mummy cake, a pun and a Doctor Who joke all in one. You have no idea how happy that makes me.¬† It’s also a damn tasty piece of deliciousness with a light, tender chocolate stout cake within and a silky, fluffy swiss meringue buttercream without. However, it eventually occurred to me that I was spending a lot of time at El Matador and having also been the victim of surprise carnitas cravings more than once when the restaurant wasn’t open, I decided that I should

sweet-potato-tortilla-29

My favorite thing I ever got to eat out of my college cafeteria was cornbread. I couldn’t get enough of it. My second favorite, which was available with much greater regularity, were the omelets. They were cooked to order, right in front of you, and it was the perfect balm to soothe the sting of an 8am French class during my first year at UVA. Since that time I’ve fallen in love with many delicious egg dishes, including quiche (good quiche, not weird scary quiche) and frittatas. Earlier this year I added the Spanish tortilla to the list. While at the Atlanta Food and Wine Festival earlier this year, I attended a session called Pantry Punch and Emergency Bites. The
